Was this PDF edited?
Look inside a PDF for signs it was changed after it was made: which apps created and edited it, hidden edit history, extra saves, mismatched dates and out-of-place fonts.
What this checks
- Extra saves. Many programs add changes to the end of a PDF rather than rewriting it, which leaves a trail of every save.
- Software. The apps that created and last changed the file, including online PDF editors.
- Edit history. Some apps record a list of actions inside the file.
- Dates. Created and modified dates, and whether the two copies of them stored in the file agree.
- Fonts. Small pieces of text in a font used nowhere else, or the same font embedded twice. Both often happen when words are replaced.
- Things added on top. Text boxes, stamps, shapes and drawings placed over the page.
- Seals and signatures. qb2pdf seals are fully checked. Adobe-style digital signatures are detected.
Can it tell if a PDF was edited with AI?
No tool can reliably tell that. Once text or an image is in a PDF, it looks the same whether a person or an AI produced it, and “AI detectors” are often wrong. What this page shows are real traces left inside the file. Treat them as clues worth asking about, not as proof. A PDF can be honestly edited (for example to fix a typo), and a forged one can be made from scratch with no traces at all.
